What Is A Meditation Ritual Or Ritual Meditation?

Have you ever wondered what are ritual meditations? What they are, why they are done and where do they originate from?

In this article, we look at all these questions and more. It is my intention to give you a good understanding of ritual meditations and how you can use them in your life.

What Are Ritual Meditations?

Ritual meditations are a wonderful way to express yourself in a simple and easy-to-understand way. They allow you to make a statement about who you are or want to be, what you like or dislike, and what makes you happy.

The word ‘ritual’ simply refers to a set of instructions that are performed at the same time, in the same place, and under the same conditions.

To understand more about ritual meditations, let’s look at an example. Say I am feeling tired and run down. I have had a very stressful day at work and am just not feeling myself.

I know that meditation could help me but after a long day, I don’t have the energy to perform any complicated meditation techniques! Instead of trying something complicated that doesn’t work, I decided to do something simple instead.

Ritual Meditation is a highly structured and disciplined form of meditation that has been developed by The School of Life, based on the latest research into the effects of meditation.

A Ritual Meditation class lasts three hours and is experienced in a group setting. During the class, you will be guided through three specific forms of meditation, each with its own unique benefits.

The first section focuses on mindfulness. By practicing a simple breathing exercise, you will learn to become more aware of your experience as it happens.

This technique can help you to stay calm and focused on what is important in your life, in the midst of many competing demands on your attention.

The second section focuses on self-knowledge. Through the development of greater awareness about how we think we’ll be able to identify particular habits that are unhelpful or even damaging.

We’ll also look at ways of cultivating helpful practices that support our wider goals and desires for life.

The third section focuses on relationships with others. By learning to think from another’s point of view we can develop greater empathy and understanding towards others, which can improve our relationships with them.

Is Meditation A Practice Or Ritual?

Some people say that meditation is a practice. Others say that it is a ritual. The reality is that meditation can be both, and this depends on how you use it.

On the night before the ritual, prepare a small space for meditation. Place a candle on an altar or table and light it in honor of the Goddess and God. Bring out any other items you will need for your rituals, such as crystals, incense, a chalice, tarot cards, and a dagger (if you will be using one).

Use incense smoke to help clear away any negative energy that may have accumulated in the area where you will be meditating. Imagine all remaining negativity being absorbed into the smoke as it rises up toward the sky.

Spend some time quietly contemplating what you want to achieve through your ritual meditation. Do this prior to meditation so that you can focus clearly on your goal during meditation itself.

How Do You Do A Meditation Ritual?

Here are some steps to follow when doing a meditation ritual:

  1. Cleanse your body and mind.
  2. Set your intention.
  3. Light the candle/incense you will use in the ritual.
  4. Visualize what you want to accomplish during the day or week ahead (for example, you might want to be more patient with family members, or focus on a specific project at work).
  5. Chant your mantra (this could be a sentence you repeat or just one word which is meaningful to you).
  6. When you finish chanting your mantra, continue meditating while focusing on your breath for as long as feels comfortable.
  7. End the ritual by breathing in and out three times, then blowing out the candle/incense.

In Conclusion

Ritual meditation is a great way to energize your body, mind, and soul. It will create positive vibrations in your life, which can result in positive activities that are beneficial to you.

If you feel that your daily activities are exhausting and distracting you, then this is the right time to perform ritual meditation.
