Types of Spiritual Power

1. The Power of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit indwells every Christian, and since He is God and possesses all of God’s power, He can assist a Christian in overcoming his inadequacies and living a life and witness that is glorifying to God.

The key to drawing on His strength is faith so that we might live by the Spirit.

Paul wrote to the Galatian Christians, saying, “Live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.

They are in conflict with each other so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law” (Gal. 5:16-18).

2. The Power of the Word of God

Christians have access to the Bible, which contains God’s endless revelation, in addition to what God offers through the Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence.

The Holy Spirit’s ministry includes teaching us God’s Word and acquainting us with the truths of God’s care for our needs, as well as God’s norms and values.

The power of God’s Word is portrayed in the letter to the Hebrews: “For the word of God is alive and active.”

It penetrates even to separating soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Heb. 4:12).

The Bible is God’s most important means of communicating with us. He announces innumerable realities in it that introduce us to God and His purposes in the universe.

Because it is such an exact exposition of God’s truth, the Word of God purifies and guides us.

3. The Power of the Blood of Christ

The Bible also mentions the significance of Christ’s blood spilled on the cross.

The fact that Christ’s blood was shed convinces us of God’s ability to forgive sin. “The law requires that practically everything be washed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness,” says Hebrews 9:22.

We have redemption because of the blood of Christ (Eph. 1:7; Rev. 5:9). We get propitiation, or satisfaction before God, via Christ’s, spilled blood, so that our sins might be forgiven (Rom. 3:25). Christ’s blood has the ability to cleanse us of our sins.

4. The Power of Prayer

One of the great blessings that a Christian receives as a child of God is access to God’s throne in heaven.

The Christian is often taught in Scripture that he can come to God with his pleas and for God to hear and respond. This was something Christ regularly reminded His disciples of.

“If you stay in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you desire, and it will be granted to you,” He told them the night before His crucifixion (John 15:7).

“I tell you the truth, my Father will give you anything you ask in my name,” Christ declared later that evening (John 16:23).

When praying to God, it’s crucial to do it in the name of Jesus.

“I will accomplish everything you ask in my name,” Jesus promised His followers, “so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.”

You may request anything on my behalf, and I will comply” (John 14:13-14).

“In that day, you will no longer ask me anything,” Jesus added. My Father will grant you everything you want in my name, I assure you” (John 16:23).

5. The Power of Christ’s Intercession

The notion that Christ is in heaven interceding for us is a fundamental part of Christians’ prayer.

“Christ is able to rescue entirely those who come to God through him,” according to Hebrews 7:25, “since he constantly lives to intercede for them.”

Because God is unlimited, He can devote all of His time and attention to one believer without neglecting others.

The fact that God is always paying attention to us and that Christ is interceding on our behalf is a wonderful reality of Scripture.

When Christians pray to God, they are attending an ongoing prayer meeting, with the goal of their prayers being to fulfill and correspond with what God intends for them.

The Bible also makes it plain that Christians do not always receive answers to their prayers because they do not ask or ask with the wrong motivations.

“When you ask, you do not get,” James says, “because you ask with improper intentions, intending to spend what you obtain on your pleasures” (James 4:3).

“You do not have because you do not ask God,” James says of the dilemma of failing to pray (James 4:2).

As a result, the difficulty in prayer is to not only ask and convey our needs to God but to do so with the appropriate intentions and aims. Our prayers will be granted if we ask according to God’s will in the name of Christ.

We need to set periods for daily prayer in addition to moment-by-moment communion with God.
