“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Philippians 4:8). As Christ’s disciples, we are asked to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:16).

Stopping Nocturnal Emission

Fasting as a way of stopping wet dreams; Dioscorus’ instruction, which is included in Ian Shaw’s History of the Monks in Egypt, advises monks that nocturnal discharges of semen “may be controlled by fasting: by regulating the intake of food one minimizes the building of “matter,” or seminal fluid, in the body.”

If you find yourself “inflamed” by lust, confess it to the Lord and seek His assistance in conquering it. In this situation, the wet dream / nocturnal discharge is the aftermath of sin, not the act itself.
